Gannon still carries a big ‘I’m not Banksy’ button on his lapel, but people still think he’s the world-famous graffiti artist. The button was to no avail, as Gannon has stopped his political work due to the rumours. In his letter of resignation, he wrote: “As you may know, it has been repeatedly claimed that I am not who I say I am, but that I am the artist Banksy. This accusation undermines my ability to properly perform the job of a councilor.”
Although Gannon is active in the same locations as Bansky, he states that he is really not the well-known artist. To avoid controversy and hassle in the political arena, Gannon decided to resign. He’s not sure who started the rumor mill, but he suspects it could be a previous political opponent.
