Seven wins from eight games, plus the win at the Bundesliga opening, means first place for Walter Wels. The autumn champions played their last game on November 23 and will start their New Year’s start against Baden next Friday.
The Kaiserstädter, on the other hand, have already played two games this year, opening the new year on January 8th with a 4-2 triumph over SPG Linz. A week later, however, Oberwart was rejected by a 4-0 defeat. Baden needs points to catch up with midfield, but the task could hardly be more difficult.
Newcomer Amirreza Abbasi has already settled in well in Baden and was able to defeat both Samuel Kaluzny and Zhenling Liu 3-0 in their win over Linz. In the first leg they braced themselves with all their might against the 0: 4 defeat, but more than four set wins did not look out. So you go into the duel as an outsider on Friday despite the home advantage.
