(red). calibration The hiking season in the Altmühltal Nature Park has just begun. The fact that the region is so popular as a destination for hiking holidays is not only due to the special natural landscapes, but also to the good infrastructure – and last but not least, the complete and consistent signposting of the routes plays a central role. The latter was the focus of a seminar in the Altmühltal Nature Park on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Weißenburg, Nennslingen, Donauwörth, Kipfenberg, Hilpoltstein, Gunzenhausen, Solnhofen, Gaimersheim – the seminar participants came to the information center of the Altmühltal Nature Park in Eichstätt from all over the nature park area. After all, there are hiking trails in all communities – and conclusive signposting for hikers is not as easy to achieve as it might seem at first glance. Graduate geographer Martin Gabriel therefore first conveyed the theoretical principles for marking to the seminar participants. Then it was off to the field.
The group started the practical part of the seminar in sunny spring weather at the “Hessental” hiking car park just outside Landershofen. What was learned was put into practice right away, namely on the Eichstätt hiking trail no. 8 in the figure field. In cooperation with the Eichstätt tourist information, the route was newly signposted by the seminar participants and is now well prepared for the new season.
