PT Perkebunan Nusantara (Persero) or PTPN is now a holding company. This is done for the sake of efficiency in SOEs.
Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir revealed, when he decided to do efficiency there was a commotion.
“How could there not be a demonstration, PTPN 1 to 13 used to be 1 PTPN with 5 directors, now there is only one because it is consolidated into a holding of PTPN 3. There are 12 small kingdoms (formerly) that used to have a CEO, now they don’t have a president director,” he explained in the Scientific Oration. Globalization and Digitalization: Post-Pandemic BUMN Strategy, which was held by Universitas Brawijaya, Saturday (27/11/2021).
Erick said that this means that many decision makers have lost their place in controlling power.
Now the condition of SOEs after this efficiency is better. This is reflected in the profit that reached Rp 61 trillion in the third quarter of 2021.
According to Erick, BUMN companies must provide services to serve the community. Therefore, there are 5 foundations of transformation that must be carried out by state-owned companies.
For example, mapping business and community services. Then the creation of an ecosystem in order to compete. Then ensure that research and development is returned to the University so that SOEs focus on commercialization.
Furthermore, SOEs must have the right business processes and must understand corporate assignments. “So do not take the opportunity in a narrowness such as corruption. Now the last one is human capital,” he added.
