The Federal Government reports that in Chihuahua or any other entity in the country there is no material capacity to vaccinate children under 5 to 12 years of age, due to the filing of the 70 amparos that have been filed for this purpose.
This means that there is no physical or biological vaccine authorized by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) to cover this age group.
Given this situation, the Secretary of State Health and Education is looking for a cross-border vaccination to be carried out.
Bienestar explained that among the four vaccines used in Chihuahua by the State Vaccination Strategy, permitted by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pfizer BioNTech was accredited by Cofepris for emergency use from 12 years of age.
To do this, the New Molecules Committee (CMN) of Cofepris in 2021 empowered to modify this biological for it. Thus, it was decided to inject only 10 micrograms to adolescents, while adults are administered 30 microorganisms.
However, under no circumstances can these modified vaccines be used in children under 12 years of age, since the WHO has recommended that vaccination of this population group begin when there is broad coverage, including booster, in people older than this age. age.
For this reason, only adolescents from 14 years of age are immunized and only those who have some risk situation or comorbidities are immunized from 12 years of age.
To date, 63 amparos have been filed during 2021 for 940 girls and boys and this year seven more have been filed for 23 girls and boys, but in all cases they are adolescents over 12 years of age.
It should be noted that the Welfare Secretariat participates in the Road Runner Brigade in organizing work and issuing calls, but has no interference in health policies, in the same case are the state authorities.
