Welcoming patients at home, a job paid by the Pierre-Lôo hospital throughout the Nièvre

In Nièvre, as everywhere in France, there is a lack of intermediate structures, such as houses, to accommodate people who have left hospital and are not yet ready to be independent.

For this, the Pierre-Lôo hospital, located in La Charité-sur-Loire, appeals to the goodwill of the entire department. The establishment is relaunching therapeutic family assistance. A device that already existed, but had been idle for twenty years, for lack of a reference team.

A full time job, all year round

The principle?? Welcoming a patient into one’s home and promoting their social reintegration. It is a full-time job, since the patient will live daily with the family, which he will have to make available to her. This work is paid by the hospital. During the year, the family referent will receive a gross of 21,470 euros and will be able to receive up to 1,935 euros in compensation for the rent and 6,880 euros in maintenance expenses.

“The interest is that the patient is integrated into family life, participates in shopping, trips, holidays… They are stabilized people, who do not have disabilities or behavioral problems. They are on average 40-45 years old, participate in collective activities and have good behavior within the hospital”, explains Nelly Amiot, senior health manager, responsible for this project, with Dr. Bertrand Dumoulin.

The family is a stage to help them resocialize. She will not be alone. You will be trained and accompanied by a team of professionals, day and night.

“Their place is no longer in the hospital, but they are too young to integrate an Ehpad and lack the capacity to live on their own. The family is a stage to help them resocialize. She won’t be alone. She will be trained and accompanied by a team of professionals, day and night”.

One bedroom and one private bathroom

Those interested will need to complete an approval file and join a social survey. The accommodation must include a bedroom of at least 9 m² for the patient and an individual bathroom. One of the family members must be able to accompany the patient to his or her medical appointments. If accepted, the family can then meet the patient. A commission composed of a doctor, a health manager, a psychologist, a nurse and a social worker will take care of connecting families and patients who match each other. A trial period will be arranged, one day, then one week. If the family and the patient have “corresponding”, the objectives and the various actions to be taken will be set.

We are looking for an attentive, caring and thoughtful person.

“We are looking for someone who is caring, attentive and thoughtful. We currently have five patients who could integrate families. We really hope to have candidates.

The device is funded by the institution, supported by the ARS.
