Welcome Paloh, Democrats Claim Anies-AHY Duet Potential to Win 2024

Jakarta

The General Chairperson (Ketum) of NasDem Solar Paloh it doesn’t matter when Anies Baswedan elect the Democratic Party (PD) chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono to become his running mate in the 2024 presidential election. PD emphasized that his party would continue to support AHY so that he could accompany Anies to run in 2024.

“From the start, our administrators and cadres supported and prayed for Ketum AHY to be able to contest in the 2024 Presidential Election. And as Mas Anies Baswedan has been appointed as the presidential candidate for the Coalition for Change, we also fully support and hope that Mas AHY will become Mas Anies’ deputy,” said the Chairman of the BPOKK. Democratic Party Herman Khaeron told reporters, Wednesday (8/3/2023).

Herman said that support was still deployed to AHY because he was considered to have the capacity and electability that could be considered. “This hope is very unfounded, because Mas AHY has the capacity, electability, representation of the millennial generation, and his position as chairman of the Democratic Party,” he said.

Furthermore, Herman alluded to the electability rate in a number of surveys which showed the figure was quite high when a figure was paired with AHY. What’s more, he said, at the moment Paloh doesn’t mind if AHY can move forward with Anies in 2024.

“Several surveys also show that if they are paired, Anies and AHY have the potential to win the 2024 presidential election contest. Especially if they are also supported by the leaders of other coalition parties, such as Pak Surya Paloh,” continued Herman.

Previously it was reported, Paloh had no problem if Anies Baswedan chose AHY as a companion in the 2024 Presidential Election. Surya Paloh invited Anies to choose a vice presidential candidate in 2024.

“That’s okay. You’re welcome,” said Surya Paloh, quoted by detikBali Tuesday (7/3).

Paloh admitted that he would not interfere with Anies’ choice of vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. “Later we will find the best choice, it’s up to Mr. Anies. The important thing is that nationalism must be properly developed and maintained. Diaspora is not allowed,” he said.

Surya Paloh is also realistic regarding the chances of winning the 2024 elections in Bali, which is considered the home of the PDIP. He handed over the winning strategy to Anies.

“Of course there are many considerations that are looked at. There is a saying that if you don’t know, then you don’t love. I believe in that. That’s his job, the party just facilitates it,” explained the former Golkar politician.
