Welcome Connect will open registrations in March: find a sponsor – 2024-02-24 18:37:07

March is just around the corner, and with it comes a new opportunity for Cubans to register on the platform Welcome Connect and meet a potential sponsor in the United States for the Program Parole Humanitarian.

Like every month, registration will take place every third Tuesday, that is, next March 19.

“The registration page will open for beneficiary registrations on the third Tuesday of each month; March 19, April 16 and May 21 are the dates for the immediate future,” the platform reads.

This platform specializes in connecting applicants for this program with people willing to become their sponsors, however, space is limited and demand is very high, so it is recommended to pay attention to the registration periods.

When the maximum quotas are reached, those interested who were not able to register must wait until next month.

“Once the registration threshold for a program is reached, registration will be paused again until the following month. Be sure to check this page on the designated day of each month for the opportunity to register for Welcome Connect,” the page adds.

This demand caused problems at the beginning, as its servers could not handle the number of people who tried to enter during the first months. Registration begins at 3:00 pm (coordinated universal time).

Registration will open at 3:00 pm Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which means:

  • If you are in Nicaragua, registration will open at 9:00 am (Central Standard Time).
  • If you are in Haiti or Cuba, registration will open at 11:00 am (Eastern Standard Time).
  • If you are in Venezuela, registration will open at 11 am (Atlantic Standard Time).
  • If you are in Ukraine, registration will open at 17:00 on March 19 and at 18:00 on April 16 and May 21 (Eastern European Time).

The process begins with the creation of a profile by the beneficiaries; to do so, they must add their basic data. Then, they will be able to choose and send messages to a maximum of seven potential sponsors, to start a conversation and see if the process between them can be viable.

Welcome Connect began in 2023, and since then it has sought to offer a safe route to people from Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Haiti who wish to request asylum in the United States. The company behind the platform, Welcome.US, has a great track record, having provided support to Afghan and Ukrainian refugees.

It is important to emphasize that this service is completely free, so the platform itself warns its users not to fall into potential fraud.
