Weißwasser loses Volkshaus proceedings in the first instance
The city wanted to sue for 1.5 million euros from the insurance company, but has now failed in the Görlitz regional court. That’s not the end in this case.

White water. The arson at the Volkshaus in April 2021, in which the event hall in particular was severely damaged or destroyed, also has legal repercussions from a financial perspective. The East German Municipal Insurance, which had insured the building, does not want to pay. The city of Weißwasser took legal action and demanded the insured sum of 1,587,461 euros, but failed in the regional court.
