/ world today news/ In the so-called “Panama Papers” about offshore accounts and tax avoidance, there is no information about American politicians. This was announced by the director of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists /ICIJ/ Gerard Ryle.
When asked if anything about American politicians would be published, Ryle replied that there would be no such data exported, as “unfortunately we do not have such data.” He noted, however, that in the near future there will be many American names published, but not of political figures. Ryle pointed out that one of ICIJ’s media partners, the Miami Herald newspaper, already discloses individual such names of American public figures. The names of a family of construction entrepreneurs – father and son Cohen, who were clients of the Panamanian company providing offshore hiding places for their money – Mossack Fonseca – were cited. In 2011, they were both sentenced to 10 years in prison for tax evasion in particularly large sizes. /TASS
