“Weill Cornell and Med Uni Innsbruck Sign MOU for Student Exchange Program and Research Cooperation”

Med Uni and elite New York faculty promote exchange

The Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City and the Medical University of Innsbruck recently signed a memorandum of agreement intended to promote and strengthen cooperation between the two medical research and educational institutions. Among other things, an exchange program for students is planned.

The Medical University of Innsbruck and the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University in New York would like to work more closely together in the future. Michael Stewart, Dean of International Affairs at the Weill Cornell University and Wolfgang Fleischhacker, Rector of the Medical University of Innsbruck, recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement, a framework agreement with the aim of promoting exchange between the two medical educational institutions. With their signature, Fleischhacker and Stewart announced their intention to develop and expand a student exchange program. It is also planned to open up fields for research cooperation, colloquia, (guest) lectures, conferences and seminars.

Rector Wolfgang Fleischhacker has professional and personal ties to Weill Cornell Medical College, particularly to the US metropolis of New York. During his scientific career and as long-time director of the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine, the schizophrenia expert was invited to lecture at the Weill Cornell Medical College several times. In 2021, the university, which is one of the elite Ivy League universities, appointed him Clinical Professor of Psychiatry (Courtesy).
