The conditions to be fulfilled mean additional costs for the volunteer music fans of the “Metal Maniacs”. In order to keep the distances, fewer people are allowed in the same area. This means that instead of the previous 49 euros for a weekend, the tickets now cost 50 euros per evening, and there are only one-day tickets. Hamel: “We have to pull everything up on the infrastructure.” Instead of 2500 visitors at the same time, there are now only 500. Ticket sales are due to start next week.
Remo Schamberger from the State Garden Show Society is delighted that the event has not only been approved, but can now also take place. The normal contracts were concluded. At the same time, the organizers were informed of the currently usual corona requirements by the legal and regulatory office. City spokeswoman Junia Folk explains that the city allowed the festival, so the organizer received a fundamental commitment. The city has issued the approval on the basis of the applicable Corona regulation.
No medieval festival
The same applies almost to the Medieval Festival (MPS), but with a different outcome. With the organizer “Medieval Fantasy Events” with boss Gisbert Hiller, there was still one question open, but the representation that the city was not making the event possible was not correct. Schamberger explains that a contract with the corona clause has also been concluded with the organizer. On Wednesday he received the message from the MPS that this had been canceled by the organizer for the beginning of July because an event with 1000 people could not be approved. He takes note of this. It remains to be seen whether another MPS will take place from October 8th to 10th. So he also knows that the date has to pay off for the organizer. So if too few visitors are allowed to come, it is not economically feasible. Upon request, the MPS organizer confirmed the cancellation for July to our newspaper.
Movies and flea market
On the other hand, a special film experience is firmly planned, which will be organized by the city’s cultural office. The parking lot of the former state horticultural show site is to be transformed into a drive-in cinema from August 13th to 22nd (we reported).
In addition, Andreas Hempel’s flea market will be set up twice, on July 9th and 10th as well as on September 3rd and 4th. There is also a fabric market on September 17th and 18th. The Moscow circus also wants to give a guest performance in Weil am Rhein from July 12th to 18th. According to Schamberger, all of these events must comply with the current Corona regulation.
The Landesgartenschau-Gesellschaft even rejected an organizer who wanted to set up a food truck festival. He has put this off until next year. “We have to wait and see how it turns out”, says Schamberger, too, about the current difficult situation to assess in the coming months. The Knie circus is also currently not coming to Weil am Rhein.
