Then the Weiler hard rock formation “Psylence” pulls out everything the speakers have to offer. The band was formed in 2013 and released their first single, Nightmares, in 2016. The album “Set in Stone” followed in 2019.
At 3.30 p.m. it gets quieter, at least acoustically, because that’s when poetry slammer Riccardo Raps takes the stage. The hamlet wrote his first short story at the age of eight and appeared on stage at the Nellie Nashorn for the first time at the age of 15. Since then he has been touring through Baden-Württemberg and writing at least one poem every day.
With the “DEMphony Ensemble” a saz formation from the Alevi community performs after raps. The passionate musicians enrich the afternoon with their long-necked lutes.
“The Three Lions” contribute a completely different style of music. The ensemble consists of the former head of the forestry department in Kandern, Martin Groß, the pro-rector of the dual university, Jörg Thietke, and the former head of the culture department of the city of Weil am Rhein, Tonio Paßlick. They arranged four songs in four different languages for the benefit concert: Bob Dylan’s “Blowing in the Wind”, the Italian folk song “Bella Ciao”, the French protest song “Le deserteur” and “Universal Soldier”.
The Stadtmusik Weil am Rhein also enriches the afternoon with a performance. Around 4:15 p.m., the ensemble, which was founded in 1839 and conducted by Kai Trimpin, will play a varied short program.
Different styles
Fifteen minutes later, Peter Reimtgut (vocals) and Wolfram Fiedler (guitar) appear. The two present a mixture of different styles of popular music. Peter Reimtgut writes his songs about topics that move him personally. The music is handmade and sounds more rocky, poppy and trashy compared to his musical past. He keeps a close eye on his great concern to make music for body, soul and spirit.
At the end of the afternoon, the Bonds Big Band will play around 4.45 p.m., which will form a joint band with the “Junior Edition” of this well-known hamlet ensemble under the direction of Christian Leitherer for this performance. Titles from the repertoire of both formations will be presented.
Colorful supporting program
Just like the stage program, the supporting program is also impressive, the organizers promise. Volunteers sell coffee and cake, there is a bookstall from the town library and one of the town’s hamlet museums. The Kieswerk art space organizes a live art event, the city youth welfare organization carries out a youth charity sale, works are sold that were created in VHS courses and, parallel to the event, “Ott’s Kleine Küche” opens directly opposite the multi-storey car park.
The proceeds from all sales, as well as the donations collected on the day, benefit the association “KiHev – Children’s Aid Kyiv”. All artists waive a fee and thus make the benefit campaign possible in the first place, the cultural office announced. The Lasser private brewery, the Kaufring, the pharmacy at the town hall, SimCo event technology, the Kieswerk art space, the Kulturring, the Lörrach neighborhood help and “Ott’s Kleine Küche” were won as sponsors.
