The German Julian Weigl changes from Borussia Dortmund to the Portuguese champions Benfica Lisbon. “Julian came to us with this request and we agreed – also because of his services to the club,” said BVB sports director Michael Zorc.
Benfica announced on the club’s website that the transfer fee for the 24-year-old was 20 million euros. Weigl is expected in Portugal in the coming days.
“I would like to thank my teammates, BVB employees and all fans of this great club for a great time and will always have Borussia Dortmund at heart,” said Weigl, who still has to complete the mandatory medical test in Lisbon.
