Weightlifting: a dose of gold and two silver for Rosendael at the French championships

The French championships take place this weekend in Figeac. The Rosendael club won medals this Friday despite the absence of its star Romain Imadoouchene. Including gold for Martin Feliciano in U20.

This weekend, Figeac is hosting the French elite weightlifting championship. The Athletic Club of Rosendaël lined up four contenders for the medal in the absence of Romain Imadouchène, his star, slightly injured, when he has just won gold in the clean and jerk at the last Euro. Next objective for him: the Med Games in Oran (Algeria) at the end of June-beginning of July. He still made the trip to encourage the young people.

President Patrick Lefevre’s club was hoping for new titles and it is served this Friday with Martin Feliciano’s victory in U20 : “In 2021, we were the third most successful club. We have been playing at the top level for about ten years, we have already totaled twenty titles. This reflects our winning culture. Martin Feliciano (reigning U17 champion), won the title in the under 61 kg category. A sizeable challenge, for the one who has just moved up in category, and who dominated his Reunionese competitor after a strategic match (84 against 83 in the snatch, 109 to 107 in the clean!). The CAR returns with gold, like every year since 2013. “It’s complicated to always be there, because weightlifting is represented in all regions”, rejoices Patrick Lefevre, the president.

In U15, in those under 40 kg, the title holder Nina Dioguardi, who has just moved up the category, was aiming for a podium. The young girl will return to Dunkirk with the silver medal, and an improved personal best (38 kg in the snatch, 50 in the clean and jerk). Still in U15, but in -59 kg, the Belgian Andrada Galvao, who will soon be defending the colors of his country at the next European championship, was competing in the open. No ranking in the French championship, but the victory, with a score of 60 kg in the snatch, 75 in the clean and jerk. For the U17s, Hugo Fournier (-73 kg) reiterated his second place acquired last year (96 in the snatch, 115 in the clean and jerk). To win, he attempted the French record at 136 kg (personal best: 125 kg), but it was mission impossible. Apart from Andrada Galvao, all were trained at Rosendaël. It was the penultimate major meeting of the season, before the national U13 trophy which will take place in Comines next weekend. To unearth the future medalists of Rosendael.
