“Weibswild” and the “electronic monk” – Diocese of Osnabrück presents YouTube channels

The Diocese of Osnabrück is increasingly relying on social media. Now the Catholics want to reach the young target group with two new YouTube channels.

The new channels of the Diocese of Osnabrück on the video platform Youtube are called “women wild” and “The electric monk”. They are designed by Natalia Löster and Urs von Wulfen. Both were already on the channel “Das Bodenpersonal”, whose name will be retained as the umbrella brand. The third member, pastor Maik Stenzel, is currently taking a break.

Catholic and feminist

“Young – female – catholic – feminist”: Pastoral advisor Natalia Löster is convinced that these four terms go well together. And so she addresses topics from the area of church, faith and feminism in the case of “women wild”. The films revolve around gender-sensitive language or questionable wedding traditions, for example. “The Electric Monk”, embodied by Urs von Wulfen, is definitely electrified: When he is upset about unbelievable things that preoccupy him in “Holy Anger”. But he is also very happy when he encounters “The good deed”. Or he tells where “traces of faith” can be seen everywhere – namely in more things than you think. The name “The Electric Monk” is from a book by the writer Douglas Adams taken.

Pay more attention to the preferences of the audience

“With the new channels, we can respond even more specifically to the wishes of viewers,” says Kai Mennigmann, Head of the press and public relations department in the diocese. Some inspire the humorous way with which Urs von Wulfen brings his observations to the point. Others were particularly interested in Natalia Löster’s topics. “With the new layout, everyone now has the opportunity to go to their favorite channel and also to become part of a community there,” says Mennigmann. “In addition, we hope to find new partners with whom we are happy to cooperate by sharpening the profile of the individual channels. We are very open. “

One or two videos a week

For the future, thought is also given to expanding the variety of channels. Last but not least, Mennigmann thanks the actors for their commitment: producing one or two of these films every week requires a lot of time and commitment.
