Wegner, who knows “O Kartes skatuvė” offers a country rock song

From time to time, a new and promising piece will be offered to a wider audience from the songwriting circles organized by the “Avacado Latte” group. Here is another one of them: the rock song “Saulīte rōtajas” by vocalist/guitarist Kristaps Wegner.

Kristaps Wegner’s song “Saulīte rōtajas” was created and recorded in the songwriting camp “Jurovižn spešal” of the group “Avacādo Latte”. As part of it, the three musicians made nine songs in nine days and recorded them, drawing themes from words that were randomly put together, to be more precise, just put together. For example, to create this particular song, Kristaps had access to the following information: “The sun promised by phone that he would get married in the hayloft of the barn on Valentine’s Day, because he wanted to swim”… What can come from such a combination? Well, maybe the next hit at Eurovision or at least “Supernova”!

According to the musician himself, “The Sun Shined” tells about unrequited love through the prism of light and darkness. Expressing primacy and brutality in a very primitive way, the song is interesting in its simplicity.” Is it so? There are! The trump cards of the song are Kristaps’ hard and heavy style sharp vocals and gut-wrenching guitar familiar from the days of the task force “Pussy Rock”, which this time is combined with something similar to the country metal band Mongolia “The HU.” and native words. The result is a beautiful piece of country rock, only – it somehow ends with nothing, that is, the composition has an introduction and a discussion, but there is no logical conclusion.

About the musician himself. Kristaps Wegner is a person with almost 20 years of experience in the field of music. As a child, he grew up in a musical family and sang both in the choir and in the ensemble “Knīpas und Knauķi”, but he became a largely independent musician when which he started studying with his mother’s recommendation. with Adrian Kukuvas, where he learned the basics of playing the guitar. After learning the basics, Kristaps played in several bands (“Mežonīgas ričtas”, “Pussy Rock”, “Avacado Latte”, “Like2K”, etc.), which produced and even participated in the creation of a rock album. Kristaps, under the stage name Vāgis, also participated in the television show “O Kartes skatuve” (Košas, or Anita Intaite, is still active in the field of rock music from that nickname), which took a small step forward in the further development of his life. Recently, the musician has been writing funny songs with members of the group “Avacado Latte”, and in this field he (and his members) are very capable today.

Interviewer: We are here with Kristaps Wegner, the talented⁢ vocalist and guitarist behind the latest release ‌”Saulīte rōtajas”,‍ which was ‍created during a songwriting camp organized by⁤ the group ‍”Avacado Latte”. ⁣Kristaps, thank‍ you for taking the time to talk to us today. Can you tell us more about how the idea for this song came about and how you were able to turn a seemingly random set of words into⁢ a beautiful piece of music?

Kristaps Wegner: Hi,⁤ it’s a pleasure to be here. Well, during the “Jurovižn spešal” songwriting⁣ camp, ‌we were given a set of⁢ random words to create a song⁢ from. The ⁣result is‍ a ⁣country rock ‌piece that tells a story of unrequited love through the use of light and darkness. The process was both challenging and rewarding, as it forced us to‍ think outside the box and be creative with the materials we were given.
