Bayer Leverkusen suffered a defeat in the Bundesliga for the first time since February 1 on Tuesday. Wout Weghorst’s VfL Wolfsburg won 1-4 against Peter Bosz’s team. Bas Dost came back with SC Freiburg (3-3) with Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach did not score.
Bayer Leverkusen had won six times in their last seven league game and drew once, but the team never played Wolfsburg in their own BayArena on Tuesday evening. The home team proved to be especially vulnerable in standard situations and three Bosz changes at half time did not turn around.
Marin Pongracic opened the score at the end of the first half by extending a free kick by Maximilian Arnold with his head. Arnold made the 0-2 himself from a free kick in the 64th minute and found Arnold’s head again for the 0-4 ten minutes later. In between, Renato Steffen headed in the third goal.
Bayer Leverkusen substitute Julian Baumgartlinger still found the net five minutes before the end, but it was no more than a hit.

Point for Gladbach, spectacular draw in Frankfurt
Bayer Leverkusen drops to fifth place with 53 points, because competitor Borussia Mönchengladbach took a point at Davy Klaassen’s Werder Bremen: 0-0.
Gladbach also has 53 points, but just a better goal difference than Bosz’s team. The first four teams of the Bundesliga can go to the Champions League next season.
Number seven SC Freiburg seemed to be booking a victory at Eintracht Frankfurt, but the team of trainer Christian Streich lost a 1-3 lead in the last fifteen minutes.
At halftime it was 1-1 by goals from Freiburg midfielder Vincenzo Grifo and Frankfurt striker André Silva. Nils Petersen and Lucas Höler brought the visitors in at 1-3, but Daichi Kamada and Timothy Chandler gave Frankfurt another run. Dost was substituted by the home team five minutes before the 2-3.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, Bayern Munich won the top match against Borussia Dortmund 0-1.
