Department of Disease Control would like to publish “Weekly Prognosis and Health Threats”

“From the surveillance of the Department of Disease Control. Situation of food poisoning in the past year 2023, between 1 Jan. – 12 Apr. 2023, 27,405 patients were found from 76 provinces, the sickness rate was 41.42 per hundred thousand population. No deaths were found. The three most common age groups were 0-4 years old (14.19%), 15-24 years old (13.34%), and 25-34 years old (12.82%). Poisoning was a cluster with more than 50 cases, 17 cases, ranging from 50-388 cases, 12 cases were found in schools, followed by prisons, 2 events, and gatherings for other activities such as religious ceremonies, 3 weddings. Most of the causes are caused by pathogens of the genus S.aureus or B. cereus or salmonella spp etc. that are contaminated in food, such as fried rice, chicken rice, rice noodles, as well as drinking water and ice with unhygienic production processes.”

“This week’s prognosis and health threats are expected to continue to see a high number of food poisoning cases. Combined with this period in Thailand with very hot weather. Most often occur in clusters. in groups of people who share food and water For first aid, take frequent sips of the ORS electrolyte solution to prevent dehydration. If the symptoms do not improve, seek medical attention as soon as possible.

The Department of Disease Control recommends that you should buy food that is fresh, clean, in shape, taste, smell, color, not unusual, washed before being cooked. Cook food with heat to cook thoroughly. Adhere to the principle of “cooked, hot, clean”. Eat freshly cooked food. Do not eat raw or undercooked food.
