Weekly mean corona cases declining for eleventh day in a row

The average number of new corona cases in the past week fell to 4,567 on Thursday, the lowest number since March 9.

The weekly average thus decreased for the eleventh day in a row. 31,970 positive tests have been reported in the past seven days.

Between Wednesday morning and Thursday morning, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) registered 4688 positive test. That is 103 more than the day before, but over 1,300 fewer compared to Thursday last week.

The number of deaths from corona has increased by eighteen in the past 24 hours. That’s not to say that all of these people died in the last 24 hours. If a corona patient dies, this is sometimes only passed on after a while. Fifteen deaths were registered on Wednesday.

Most corona cases in Rotterdam

Last 24 hours, most corona cases were diagnosed in Rotterdam, a total of 297. Amsterdam had 224 new cases and The Hague 147. Relatively many new corona infections were also discovered in Venlo (87) and Eindhoven (82).

Since the outbreak began, more than 1.6 million people in the Netherlands have been tested positive. More than 17,500 people are certain to have died of the virus.
