The carnival weekend starts wet and with a lot of wind, Weerplaza reports. But it seems that the weather will be a lot better on Sunday, during the many carnival parades.
On Friday, a storm depression in the North Sea will cause restless weather in parts of the United Kingdom, where the storm has been named Otto. This also causes a strong wind in the Netherlands. That wind blows close to the sea and on the Wadden Islands with a wind force 7.
It can also blow on Saturday, but less hard. The west to southwest wind has a wind force of 4, but can reach wind force 5 to 6 in the coastal areas.
An umbrella or poncho is also not a superfluous luxury Saturday. A disturbance moves from the west to the east, which means that it can rain for a few hours straight. But it will generally not really rain, says Weerplaza. There are also dry periods in the afternoon, especially in the west of the Netherlands. It will be 9 to 12 degrees.
In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the mercury will remain around 4 degrees. There is also a high chance of rain.
On Sunday it can still rain here and there, but due to a high pressure area, the chance of precipitation decreases sharply. It also blows with wind force 3 and much less than the days before. “In short: good news for visitors and participants in the countless carnival parades that are planned this afternoon,” says Weerplaza. Carnival celebrations must take into account slightly lower temperatures than Saturday: they will get stuck at around 10 degrees.
The almost dry weather also seems to continue on Monday and Tuesday. There is a moderate to fairly strong (south) west wind.
