Weekend marathon over 2800 kilometers – Gutach im Breisgau

Aid transport from Bleibach to the Polish-Ukrainian border / started on Friday, back on Sunday / return with refugees.

(BZ). On Friday, a privately organized aid convoy with a large coach and eight minibuses set off from Bleibach in the direction of Ukraine and Warsaw. A total of 87 refugees were picked up, cared for and transported to Germany through cooperation with Mission Lifeline and The African Network of Germany (Tang) Freiburg, reports Ulrich Hartmann after returning on Sunday.

18 volunteer drivers safely covered more than 2800 kilometers in a weekend marathon. 48 of the people who fled the Ukraine found shelter in the old elementary school in Bleibach, which was made available by the community and was set up in no time at all by many helpers and local businesses. The rest are accommodated in private quarters in the village and in the region, reports Hartmann. In total, more than 27,000 euros in donations were collected in ten days. The supporters included several companies from the community and from the Freiburg area, a medical practice from Kollnau, the Red Cross and the Gutach fools’ guild, the Zweitälerlandschule and the Erasmus high school in Denzlingen and the AGJ association for prevention and rehabilitation in the Archdiocese of Freiburg. Donations and accommodation offers will continue to be collected (Info: Ulrich Hartmann, Tel. 0171 2069774).

Info: Among other things, Tang eV supports Africans who lived in the Ukraine and are now also fleeing because of the war.
