Be honest: Did you research fantasy football defenses before your draft? It’s okay if you haven’t. D / ST is one of the most difficult positions to write, but it is certainly considered the easiest to spread. Often times, fancy owners can land one of the best D / ST units of the year on the Bypass Wire, as some teams come across as surprisingly strong stopping units, and teams with a good chance of injury. often have a solid depth. Of course, all of this doesn’t make it easier to put together our Week 1 fantasy defense rankings as we know very little about the scheme and the matches.
However, we can still make educated guesses. The Eagles (@ Washington), Colts (@ Jaguars) and Jaguars (vs Colts) look like some of the best streaming options in Week 1 if available in your league. All face teams that either have a poor offensive line (Washington and Jacksonville) or a quarterback inclined to return the ball (Indianapolis). This will give each team a chance to rack up points and potentially make their way into the top 10 defenses this week.

If you’ve chosen Chiefs or Saints defenses, both of which are in the top 10 of our D / ST rankings for 2020, you might consider streaming right out of the games’ release. The Chiefs face the Texans and Deshaun Watson in what could be a shootout, while the Saints face Tom Brady, who doesn’t turn the ball around much. Both have enough playmakers to generate a big play and pay off, but they’re a bit of a risk to trust, at least in week 1.

Until we see teams on the pitch, it will be difficult to fully project which defenses have the best games, but from what we know, this is how our D / ST ranking comes out for the week. 1.
