In the night to Thursday it will be mostly clear. It shouldn’t rain. There may be fog in the valleys bordering mountainous areas. The temperatures drop to 11 to 4 degrees, on the ground it can be up to 1 degree in some areas.

Update from August 8, 21:51: A rain front is moving from Belgium and the Netherlands to NRW. In the west, in the south and between the Ruhr area and Münsterland it is currently raining again, sometimes a little heavier. Also in the extreme north-east, where gusts of wind were last warned until 8 p.m. However, rain continues to move into the country. It is expected to continue raining through the night. According to current forecasts, it should continue to be dry and friendly during the course of the day on Wednesday.

The warnings from the DWD only apply until 8 p.m. On the other hand, rain continues to move in from the west. Currently especially in a strip on the Lower Rhine, between the districts of Kleve and Mönchengladbach.

There should be a bigger temperature rise on Thursday. According to the current DWD forecast, with a mostly blue sky, up to 25 degrees are possible again. Also on Friday it stays dry during the day, even with up to 27 degrees. But that could also be the end of the short summer weather change. Because from Friday evening there will be denser clouds again. In the night to Saturday there is even a threat of thunderstorms with heavy rain.

Update from August 8, 10:45 am: A low storm hangs over southern Sweden, which also affects the weather in NRW. The general weather situation over Europe and especially Scandinavia has been causing a cool and wet August for days. Now “cool North Sea air is brought in with a sometimes strong northwesterly current,” according to the DWD. The consequences: a lot of wind, especially in the Münsterland and Weser-Leine-Bergland areas and in ridges. In some other regions of NRW, stormy gusts with wind speeds of up to 70 km/h are possible – especially where there are showers. There will be rain in large parts of the country on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, then, perhaps, the change in weather that many are longing for: there should be more relaxation in the morning, after which it will be clear and free of precipitation, according to the DWD.

First report from August 8, 2023, 6:33 a.m.: Another day of wind and rain awaits the people of North Rhine-Westphalia. As reported by the DWD, it will remain cloudy to heavily overcast today. “Increasing shower activity” is forecast for the afternoon. The temperatures should rise to 18 to 21 degrees.

But it remains windy, especially in East Westphalia and Sauerland. Stormy gusts are also possible in the Teutoburg Forest and near showers. The DWD has issued a wind warning for the north-east of the state. This affects the region around Münster, Paderborn and Bielefeld.

Thunderstorms are also possible on Wednesday night

There should be showers on Wednesday night. Even individual thunderstorms are not excluded, reports the DWD.
