‘Wednesday’, the spin-off of ‘The Addams Family’ breaks the record on Netflix in the first week | TV

TVThe new series ‘Wednesday’ has been massively watched on Netflix since its premiere on Wednesday. According to entertainment site Deadline, subscribers watched more than 341 million hours in the first week. This is a record for an English-language series on the streaming service.

The fourth season ofStranger Things set the previous record for an English-language series earlier this year with a total of 335 million viewing hours in its first week. The South Korean series “Squid Game” tops the list of all TV titles. In the first week after release, more than 571 million hours were watched.

Familiar faces

InWednesday’ we follow the school years of sixteen year old Wednesday Addams. As she tries to master his psychic abilities, he tries to stop a serial killer terrorizing his town. Additionally, the teen is also busy solving a murder mystery involving her parents 25 years ago.

Wednesday plays Jenna Ortega. Plus, a number of well-known faces are participating in the spin-off. Catherine Zeta-Jones will play the role of Morticia Addams and Fred Armisen will play the role of Uncle Fester. Christina Ricci, who played the daughter of the ghoul family in previous film adaptations, can be seen as a teacher.

‘The Addams Family’ is originally a 1938 comic strip. The story has been made into several series and movies.
