Schools of all levels and modalities will remain closed and will resume activities on Thursday, September 12. The school government will share different events and celebrations commemorating the figure of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento and highlighting the work of teachers.
The General Directorate of Schools (DGE) announces that on Wednesday, September 11, there will be a school holiday at all levels and modalities of the educational system due to the celebration of Teachers’ Day. This date arises from the commemoration and tribute to the death of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, considered the father of the classroom and promoter of compulsory education throughout Argentina, and also a hero who was a politician, philosopher, pedagogue, writer, teacher, journalist, statesman and Argentine military man.
Therefore, schools will remain closed and will resume activities on Thursday, September 12.
It is worth noting that during the week schools will carry out different activities related to Teachers’ Day, with activities between students and teachers.
The school government will hold an event on Tuesday, September 10 at the Congress and Exhibition Center of the department of San Rafael, with the presence of the Minister of Education, Culture, Children and DGE, Tadeo García Zalazar.
Also, on Thursday 12th, two activities will take place that are traditionally held in our province for Teachers’ Day. One of them is the tribute to deceased teachers and the other day will be in Plaza Sarmiento in the City of Mendoza, where the traditional tribute to Domingo Faustino Sarmiento will be held, with a floral offering and the participation of the schools in the area.
