Wedel Marketing Association Plans Three Exciting May Events for Old Town Merchants

Almost 40 members took part in the popular meeting under the title EDiMo, discussed it lively and absorbed new information. The abbreviation stands for the first Tuesday of the month, when the old town merchants gathered for decades. Now the men and women from the shops around Roland and their colleagues in the city are all active in the Wedel Marketing association, and together we are preparing three great events for the next month of May.

The maypole is traditionally put up on May 1st. There will also be a small parade at 11 a.m. from the fire station across Schulauer Straße to the market square behind Roland. The mast is placed with the support of the emergency services. The group from the Heimatbund dances in beautiful traditional costumes. There is singing and chatting. Helping hands are welcome and are welcome to contact the office in the town hall or the board.

The merchants among the members of the Marketing Association are particularly challenged on the Sunday after the Ascension weekend, i.e. on May 12th. Because then there is the opportunity for the first Sunday open for shopping in Rolandstadt. After the three-day wine festival on the town hall square, residents from Wedel and the surrounding area will have another opportunity to leisurely experience the city and shop.

Culture is king on Saturday, May 25th. From 5 p.m. to midnight, Wedel will show what cultural highlights the region has to offer. Guests from near and far are welcome. The stage will be on the town hall square for the first time this year.

And then there was the informal part. Annette Boettcher from the city’s building department presented the plans to replace the bicycle racks on Bahnhofstrasse. The so-called spoke killers should be replaced with modern brackets. The number of bicycle parking spaces will be increased to 170 as the bars can be used on both sides. Spaces for large cargo bikes will also be set up.

Those gathered around the club’s chairman Daniel Frigoni praised the early information from the city administration, which would like to be expanded further.

This time the marketing get-together took place at Elbe 1. Next time, on May 7th, the Wedelers, who are active in marketing, are expected to meet in the new “La Vela” in the Hamburg marina. (Michael Rahn/communications team, April 12, 2024)
