Website: Son of former president of the Republic is the favorite of clubs to preside over CBF

Amidst a real turmoil with Rogério Caboclo removed from the command and the presidents of Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim, and from the São Paulo Federation, Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, appointed by the Court as interventors, the clubs already have a favorite to preside over the CBF. The Uol website says that Fernando Sarney, son of former President of the Republic José Sarney, has enormous support.

Fernando is one of the eight vice runners at the CBF and one of the four representatives from South America on the FIFA Council, an important group that defines football guidelines. The leader is considered discreet and has good traffic with various entities (clubs, federations, associations of athletes and referees, as well as politicians). Thus, he is seen by top hats as the one who is better able to touch the entity in a moment of transition with the design of a league to organize the Brazilian championship.

The question now is whether Sarney would accept the mission of taking over the CBF. The entity’s command will have a decisive role on what the league will be.

If someone who pleases the clubs to take over, such as Sarney, and some demands on calendar (avoid coincidence of dates between national and Serie A matches) and refereeing (greater transparency with the VAR) are met, the association of clubs may even lose strength .
