New Delhi: It is extremely cold across North India at this time. The rainy season has started once again in South India. With dry weather and falling temperatures, dense fog and rain have engulfed various parts of North India. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert ranging from ‘cold day’ to ‘severe cold day’ in some parts of the country. However, no ‘cold wave’ warning has been issued by IMD in the coming days.

Alerts of ‘Cold Day’ and ‘Severe Cold Day’ have been issued in parts of North India like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan. The weather agency has also predicted that temperatures in the northern parts of the country are likely to remain stable from January 8 to 13, with no significant changes or cold wave warnings.
Fog will remain in many states till January 10
According to the forecast report of IMD, there is a possibility of fog and dense fog in the morning in different parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar from January 8 to 10. PTI also reported that there was fog in Delhi-NCR on Monday morning and there is a possibility of light rain on Tuesday.
Apart from this, the weather agency has predicted rain in the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Puducherry and Karaikal. Whereas from January 8 to 10, there is a possibility of sporadic heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. There will be rain in Andhra Pradesh from 8 to 10 January.

Talking about the weather of January 9, according to the report of Skymet Weather, moderate to heavy rain may continue in some parts of Tamil Nadu and the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rain may occur in interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Scattered light rain with one or two moderate rains may occur over Karnataka, Konkan and Goa and Central Maharashtra. Light rain is possible in eastern parts of Gujarat, East Rajasthan and parts of Madhya Pradesh.
Cold day conditions in Delhi
Dense to very dense fog conditions are possible at one or two places over Punjab, Haryana, parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Dense fog may occur in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Odisha and Northeast India. Cold day to severe cold day conditions are possible in some parts of Punjab and Haryana. Cold day conditions may occur in different areas of Rajasthan and Delhi.
