More and more it seems that we are entering the heart of winter, with the weather scene changing from next week with further drops in temperature and rain in several parts of the country.
In particular, according to the meteorologist Clearchos Marousakis, from the middle of November the anti-cyclone barrier “breaks” as a result of which our country will go from prolonged drought to rainfall.
However, the way is also opening for bad weather to our region.
In fact, according to the weather forecast page “Weather Analysis Greece”, from Sunday a small bad weather is expected to arrive from Ukraine to the Balkans, which will bring December temperatures to the country. “The issue of rains remains in great doubt, at least for a generalized situation and depends on the exact location of the disturbance from a week,” it is also reported.
Detailed forecast of “Weather Analysis Greece”
“The path that will be taken by the disturbance that (is predicted) to begin to concern the Balkans from Sunday onwards, involves enormous predictive difficulty and this is also the reason why there are diametrically opposite scenarios. This severed storm (green circle over Ukraine) first crosses Russia and then Ukraine before finally exiting the Balkans. However, due to the war in these areas, meteorological data is particularly poor to non-existent, and is based almost exclusively on satellite images.
So there is this special case, so the whole story will be revealed in the next few days. In other words, it is possible that on Saturday, we will see completely different maps compared to today. However, the weather will get colder from Sunday onwards especially in the north and we will probably reach December temperatures, heating will become necessary even in more southern areas, as this micro-disturbance will bring with it quite a bit of cold from Russia.
The issue of rains remains in great doubt, at least for a generalized situation and depends on the exact position of the disturbance from week. Historically, however, disturbances from the east have always favored the eastern continents (central Macedonia – eastern Thessaly – Evia – Attica – eastern Peloponnese – Crete) so I think that the ‘favorites’ to get significantly wet are these areas with an emphasis on the southernmost.
However, it is worth noting that – if everything goes optimistically – the cold that will come down, will be able to turn the rains into snowfalls in our mountains, so it is possible that the second week of November will be the one that will turn several mountains white for the first time ».
A heavy winter is expected
After relatively mild winters, this year looks like it will be heavier, with the cold sweeping the country early, according to the weather reports.
Details of the days per month:
- November 2024: Winter scenery from the 2nd half and several rains
- December 2024: Rainy weather, but also snow in the mountains, but with mild temperatures for the season.
- January 2025: Relatively mild month, with less rain, but in the beginning it will have more wintry characteristics.
- February 2025: Cold and snow the special characteristics of the weather
- March 2025: Split in two, with strong winter touches in the 2nd half.
