Storm Diego will spare the Alpes-Maritimes and the coast of Nice while it is raging everywhere else in France.
Its only consequence on the Côte d’Azur is the presence of strong winds throughout the department, with gusts at 65-70 km / h for the day of Friday April 8, 2022 on the coast and in the high country.
Risks of waves and submersion on the coast
Météo France places the coast on yellow vigilance for the risk of waves and submersion from Friday, midnight, until 6 p.m., in particular “between Nice and Menton”.

With the very mild temperatures this Thursday afternoon and the wind already blowing on the coasts, Nice Météo 06 is also a reminder of the fire risks associated with this weather.
From Thursday March 24 to Tuesday March 28, 2022, no less than four fires broke out in the vegetation of the Nice hinterland, due to this unusual drought for this season.
The prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes has also decreed a “red period” with a ban on burning in the open air until April 15, minimum.
The department on drought alert
The prefecture has maintained its drought alert since Thursday March 31, 2022 for Nice and 97 municipalities in the department, in the watersheds of Brague, Var (upstream and downstream), Paillon, Roya, Bévéra and coastal Menton. .
The situation will be reassessed at the end of April, after the meeting of the water resource management committee.
