Storms worthy of a summer month! This Monday, March 13 was an exceptional day: according to meteorologists, it was the stormiest day for the month of March, the most struck by lightning and the earliest in terms of hailstorms. Unheard of, so early in the season.
The east of France, and in particular Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and the Grand Est, were particularly affected by these storms. In the Vosges, power cuts have occurred due to fallen trees on the network. And in the Doubs, it’s downright a pole of a 20,000 volt line that went down.

According to Keraunos, theFrench Observatory of thunderstorms and tornate, the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté was the most struck region, and the Vosges rank in 3rd position of the most struck departmentswith 1,973 flashes, behind Côte-d’Or (3,922) and Haute-Marne (2,493).

Wind gusts up to 90 km/h
In Lorraine. At the Nancy-Ochey meteorological station, thegusts of wind have risen to 80 km/h vers 19 h. The Metz-Frescaty station recorded a peak at 67 km/h at 4 p.m., and that of Epinal, 78 km/h at 7 p.m.
in Franche-Comte. In Haute-Saône, at Luxeuil Saint-Sauveur station, peaks at 92 km/h were recorded at 6 p.m. In Besançon-Thise, it was earlier, around 1 p.m., that the biggest gusts were observed, at 71 km / h. In Belfort – Dorans, the most significant disturbances took place around 8 p.m. with 86 km / h.
Vigilance is still required today because Météo-France is forecasting strong gusts until the start of the evening. The gusts will blow between 70 and 80 km / h in Lorraine, and thehe City of Nancy announced the closure of its parks this afternoon. The wind will blow between 60 and 70 km/h in Franche-Comté.
