On Wednesday there will be plenty of sunshine and high temperatures again, but clouds will move in during the afternoon and there may be rain and thunderstorms. Temperatures will still reach up to 31 degrees.
On Wednesday evening, however, it will be uncomfortable. The first storm clouds were already forming over northwestern Switzerland in the afternoon and moving towards the Zurich area. “MeteoNews” is predicting some heavy thunderstorms. The federal government issued a severe weather warning for the Knonauer Amt, the Zug region, areas south of Lake Zurich and the canton of Glarus.
The Federal Office of Meteorology warns of large branches breaking off, trees falling over, lightning strikes and hail damage. Landslides in exposed locations or a sudden occurrence of flood waves in streams or flooding are also possible, according to Meteoschweiz.
According to MeteoNews, on Swiss National Day there will be a mix of sun, clouds and rain and it will be humid. Anyone planning a celebration on this day should therefore remain flexible.
The weather will remain changeable on Friday and it will be cooler with a maximum of 25 degrees. Over the course of the weekend the weather will stabilize and it will become hotter again.
