Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – The first weekend of the new year could have white flakes in Hessen – and smoothness. On Sunday, light snowfall may set in in the southeast of the country, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced. Slippery snow or slush could cause traffic obstructions. According to this, one to two centimeters of snow could fall at low altitudes, and two to five centimeters in the mountains. The temperatures are between minus one degree in permafrost in higher altitudes and two degrees in the other regions.

According to the DWD, it will remain covered on Monday night. In some areas, light snowfall and fog must be expected. The temperatures are therefore between minus four degrees and one degree. It could spread smoothly on the streets. According to the forecast, it will mostly remain covered on Monday. In northern Hesse there can be light snowfall – and black ice. According to the meteorologists, temperatures are between one and three degrees at the beginning of the week.
