Offenbach (dpa / mv) – The people in the northeast have to adjust to difficult weather conditions. In the direction of Western Pomerania, in particular, there could be prolonged black ice rain with considerable ice accumulation, said Robert Hausen from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Saturday. The background is the lows Per and Ronald.

First of all, the next night in the north and also in the east it will be crisp and cold again, over snow again down to minus -15 degrees. On Boxing Day and at the start of the week, there is movement in the weather. The low of Per is slowly shoveling mild Atlantic air north-east. The temperature, especially in higher air layers, increases significantly, so that light precipitation mostly falls as rain. The hit on frozen ground and could lead to dangerous black ice. Where exactly that will happen is still uncertain, said Hauser. It remains dry east of the Elbe.

In the coming week, Per will receive support from the Atlantic low Ronald, which should have driven the last remnants of the cold air from the far northeast by the middle of the week. Then it could come to the black ice rain especially in the direction of Western Pomerania. There is a risk of storms.
