Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – After a short break at the weekend, summer really starts again on Monday. The German Weather Service (DWD) expects maximum temperatures of up to 33 degrees in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. Even at night, according to the information, the values locally only drop to 18 degrees. “In a somewhat more drastic way, one could say that summer is rising to its first heat wave,” said a DWD meteorologist in Offenbach on Saturday.

The reason for the renewed change in weather is high “Yona”, which not only brings a heat surge but also a lot of sun. According to the DWD, temperatures of 28 to 32 degrees will be reached on Monday. In addition, there is only a weak wind. On Tuesday it is a bit hotter with 29 to 33 degrees – and especially in the Moselle valley, uncomfortably humid.
