Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – The precipitation on Christmas days in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland initially eases and it gets stormy towards the weekend. On Friday there will be a local shower, snow is still coming down in the mountains, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Thursday in Offenbach. While it can be up to six degrees at low altitudes, there is a maximum of three degrees in the mountains.

On Boxing Day, it can rain from the west, especially in the afternoon, and snowflakes are still possible in the mountains. At first the temperatures hardly change. The wind from the southwest is increasingly freshening up, and the DWD is expecting strong gusts at times, especially in ridge areas. Prolonged rain predicts Sunday. Initially, up to 15 centimeters of fresh snow is conceivable in the mountainous region, but the snowfall limit continues to rise. There can be drifts, the maximum values climb to seven degrees. Meteorologists are widespread expecting strong to stormy gusts, in ridges it can be heavy gusts of wind.
