Weather – Offenbach am Main – Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate: warmest federal states in April – panorama

Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – Lots of sun and atypically high temperatures: The Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate were the warmest and second-warmest federal state in Germany this April. According to the preliminary evaluation of the German Weather Service, the Saarland was not only the front runner with an average temperature of 12.1 degrees – in Saarbrücken-Burbach the temperatures even climbed to 25 degrees from April 7th to 11th, thus ensuring summer values .

Rhineland Palatinate was the second warmest federal state with an average temperature of 11.8 degrees. Throughout Germany, the average temperature of 10.5 degrees in April was 3.1 degrees above the value of the international reference period 1961 to 1990.

The sun was shining abundantly – it was the month with the most sunshine in Germany since measurements began. Around 295 hours of sunshine were measured in Saarland, and even a little more in Rhineland-Palatinate. 155 or 151 hours of sun would have been normal.

Even if the Saarland was in second place in Germany with about 20 liters of rainfall per square meter when it rained, it was clearly too dry. 64 liters per square meter would have been normal this month. In Rhineland-Palatinate, the rainfall was almost 15 liters per square meter – the usual amount in the state would have been 57 liters.
