Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – In Hesse, the new week starts with rain and snow. According to the German Meteorological Service in Offenbach, snow falls in the northern half of Sunday on Monday night, which then turns into rain from the south. In this transition area as well as in the mountains there is a risk of black ice. According to the forecast, the lowest values are between 1 degree in the south and down to -7 degrees in the north.

On Monday it will remain very cloudy, in the southwest it will rain, in the north and in the mountains it will snow. In freezing rain there is again a risk of slipperiness. The maximum values are between 1 degree in northern Hesse and in the higher mountains and 5 degrees south of the Main.

A meteorologist said it was not yet certain whether the additional rain would aggravate the flood situation. The meltwater is no longer added to the rain, the snow has largely thawed. Currently there are still 20 centimeters of snow in the Taunus. In the Rhine, however, the water will remain at a consistently high level. A drastic drop in water levels is not to be expected in any case.
