Weather – Offenbach am Main – Heavy rain in Hesse causes flooding – Panorama

Frankfurt / Offenbach (dpa / lnw) – Heavy rain and thunderstorms have caused numerous fire and police operations in parts of Hesse – especially in the Rhine-Main area. In Frankfurt, for example, there were flooded streets, full cellars and fallen trees, said a police spokesman. In total, the fire brigade recorded around 70 missions on Thursday evening. A police spokesman said the emergency services received many emergency calls in the Offenbach district. Among other things, lightning struck a car.

On Friday, after initially only a few showers, the Hessians have to prepare for heavy rain, thunderstorms, squalls and hail again from midday. The German Weather Service (DWD) also expected some storms. It looks similar on Saturday – but probably less widespread.
