Essen (dpa / lnw) – Sudden showers, thunderstorms and heavy rain: The weather in NRW will remain very changeable for the next few days. “Unfortunately there is no prospect of a high-pressure area with sun and heat in the coming week,” said Bernd Hussing, meteorologist at the German Weather Service in Essen, on Saturday. May this year averaged ten degrees – similar to April – around three degrees colder than the average of the past 30 years. “The weather is in, there is no real bright spot,” said Hussing.

Accordingly, the air mass over the country is currently widely unstable. Where the sun, with its early summer power, briefly warms the ground, there is a high probability that a heavy shower or downpour will occur shortly afterwards. “Some areas in North Rhine-Westphalia can get a lot of rain, others maybe next to nothing,” it said. In contrast, the nights are mostly dry and relatively mild at around eight degrees.
