Mainz / Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – Sunday starts with fog in large parts of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. During the day, however, the sun shows up over both federal states at times. According to the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach, it also remains largely free of rain at temperatures between 1 and 5 degrees.

Fog spreads on Monday night. Frost is widespread at lows between -2 degrees and -6 degrees. The meteorologists of the DWD announced that there would be some local ice frost. During the day, the weather gradually loosens in the course of the day, but the cloudy fog lingers over the valleys of the Rhine, Moselle and Saar. The temperatures are between 1 degree in fog and 4 degrees in sunshine.

On the night of Tuesday, precipitation from the north-westerly direction must be expected, some of which will fall as snow, as forecast by the meteorologists. The temperatures range between 0 degrees and -3 degrees. Widespread blackness is formed by snow or black ice. During the day it stays cloudy to rainy. The precipitation in both federal states will initially freeze, at higher altitudes snow is likely to fall. There is a risk of slipperiness locally.
