Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – The first week of January 2022 starts stormy, cloudy and unusually mild in Hesse. Overall, it will be wintry in the mountains, while cold and wet weather can be expected in lower elevations. The German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Sunday in Offenbach.
During the night on Monday there are stormy gusts, in the mountains when it rains even gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour. The wind only subsides in the morning, but clouds, showers and isolated thunderstorms remain. The maximum temperatures are between 9 and 11 degrees, in the mountains up to 8 degrees. During the night the rain and fresh wind keep temperatures between 8 and 6 degrees.
On Tuesday, the rain at high altitudes will partially turn into snow. The maximum temperatures are between 8 and 13 degrees. Fresh wind again leads to stormy gusts well into the night. The temperatures cool down to lows between 4 and 0 degrees, in the mountains down to -2 degrees. Rain turns into snow and is particularly slippery in the mountains.
On Wednesday the weather will remain cloudy. Coming from the northwest, showers and snow in the mountains are to be expected. The maximum values are between 3 and 7 degrees, on the Wasserkuppe at up to -1 degrees. Strong winds can lead to gusts of wind again in the mountains. On Thursday night there are likely to be showers, sleet and slippery conditions in Hesse with lows of 2 to -1 degrees and decreasing winds.
