Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – Fallen trees, signs and construction site fences, fallen roof tiles and an overturned trailer: the stormy weather left its mark on the weekend in Rhineland-Palatinate. However, the incidents mostly went smoothly, the police reported on Sunday. In the Altenkirchen area (Westerwald) there were traffic obstructions on Saturday due to fallen signs and trees, nobody was injured. In Waldfischbach-Burgalben in the district of Südwestpfalz, a parked caravan tipped backwards, causing the caravan cover to slip. In addition, according to police, a small boulder fell from a private property onto a parked car trailer. Nobody was injured here either. There was minor property damage.
In and near Boppard (Rhein-Hunsrück district) there were also several police and fire services on Saturday due to squalls, including fallen trees, broken branches that were blown onto the street and fallen roof tiles.
Looking at the weather, the new week starts calmer, but rainy. In its forecast, the German Weather Service (DWD) assumes that the rain will mix with snow at high altitudes. The maximum values were between seven and nine degrees, at high altitudes between four and six degrees, the DWD announced on Sunday. In addition, there is a moderate wind from the northwest with some strong gusts.
In the night of Tuesday, the rain showers are reported to be a little less. In the mountainous region, sleet or snow showers are still possible in some cases. According to the DWD, the lowest values are between four and one degree, at high altitudes down to minus one degree. The meteorologists warn of slippery conditions due to light snowfall or freezing moisture.
Tuesday is often very cloudy, but it rains less often. The maximum temperature should be between six and ten degrees, at high altitudes between four and six degrees.
