Mainz (dpa / lrs) – Two-part weather at the weekend in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland: People can enjoy the sun and summer temperatures at times, but must also expect showers and thunderstorms. At first it was still friendly for most, said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD). On Friday it will be mostly clear and dry until the afternoon with summer temperatures between 24 and 28 degrees.

Then, however, in some regions there will be denser clouds with showers and sometimes strong thunderstorms. There is also a local risk of severe weather due to heavy rain. In the north, on the other hand, it will probably remain free of precipitation until the evening. According to the DWD, there are only isolated showers or thunderstorms on Saturday. In many places it is dry with similarly warm temperatures.

On Sunday it will be uncomfortable, said the expert. There are widespread clouds and showery rain and thunderstorms are likely everywhere in the country. Local storms with heavy rain are possible again. The maximum temperatures are therefore between 20 and 26 degrees. According to the information, it is similarly changeable at the beginning of the week. The situation calmed down a bit on Monday.
