Thunderstorm

After thunderstorms over the southern half Monday and Tuesday, a further thunderstorm deteriorates Wednesday and Thursday to two-thirds of the country spreading to the eastern regions. This stormy deterioration ends the period of time, quite often summer, that France has known since the beginning of May.
This Wednesday 6:15 p.m., the situation has not changed much for 16 hours, with the maintenance of a heavy, unstable and stormy weather from Poitou to the central Massif in the Alps going up towards Alsace. Rain showers still occur, EnCte d’Or, falling hail damaged some vineyards.

North of the Loire, thunderstorms affect the center of Brittany, others rise from Champagne to the Ardennes. Between Rouen, Pontoise and Beauvais, thunderstorm activity sets in. The sky of Ile-de-France takes care of many cumulus clouds and begins to become threatening.
At 4.30 p.m. time remains as threatening on 3/4 of France. Thunderstorms break out in a way that is still as dispersed between the Aquitaine basin, the Alps and the Grand-Est, passing through Auvergne, the Center region, Burgundy and the Jura. These thunderstorms are scattered and often brief, but nonetheless violent, especially in the Clermont-Ferrand region: in the city center, 32.4mm of water fell between 3 and 4 pm, which corresponds to 2 weeks of precipitation.

Under the thunderstorms, the showers are brief but intense with 27 mm of water Mirabel (07), 19mm Ourouer (18), 18mm Plauzat (63), 14mm Montignac (24) and 13mm Saint-Symphorien (71) between 15 and 16 hours, which corresponds to 10 days of precipitation that fell in just 1 hour. Falls of hail are also reported on the side of Nevers, Mende, Montauban and Dijon for the 2nd time of the day.
Other storms, even more isolated, broke out in Brittany, between Quimper and Rennes but also in Normandy, north of Rouen.
3:00 p.m., the atmosphere is heavy, often painful and particularly unstable between the Pyrenees and the eastern borders with 25 30C and a felt close to 35 because of the ambient humidity. A big storm has swept Dijon o 15mm of rain fell in 30 minutes.This storm reaches Epinal.

In the Berry, in Limousin,in Auvergne and in and the along the Garonne, the stormy activity is particularly marked in the sectors of Bourges, Nevers, Moulin, Montluon, Clermont-Ferrand, Aurillac, Cahors or even Agen.
In Paris region, cumulus clouds are gaining momentum and the first lightning strikes have just been observed in Seine-et-Marne, which will be the department of Ile-de-France most affected by thunderstorms tonight.
1:30 p.m., instability and thunderstorm activity are rapidly increasing now. Showers circulate from Pyrnes to the Alps Alsace passing through the Massif Central, Burgundy, Jura and Lorraine. Under the most active isolated storm cells, between 12 and 13 hours, 15mm of Liergues water (69), 11mm Oloron (64), 10mm Montbeugny (03) and 7mm Mouthe (25) were noted.

At 12, a few isolated showers are observed in the south of New Aquitaine. AT Biarritz, 7.7mm of rain fell between 11 and 12h.

Other isolated but occasionally stormy showers are also reported from Poitou in the north of Burgundy as well as in Alsace, between Strasbourg and Mulhouse. The stormy activity is also taking place in the center of Limousin, around Limoges as well as in Haut-Loire and on the Monts du Lyonnais.
