Weather Monday October 21: between full sun and rain in the northwest

Highlights of this day

beautiful spring day in ¾ of the country after rapid dissipation of morning mists

regular rains in regions near the English Channel with occasional risks of flooding, hence our alert

general mildness with 20 to 25°C in the afternoonbut only 15°C in the Channel

Matin

After the dissipation of some mists and fogs in the east, clearings and sunshine prevail over a majority of regions. Low clouds are nevertheless present from the Pyrénées-Orientales to the west of Hérault due to the sunrise. From Brittany to Hauts-de-France, the weather is choppy with heavy rain. From Pays de la Loire to the Ardennes via Île-de-France, the sky is cloudy to very cloudy.

It is already relatively mild in the morning with 8 to 16°C from the Auvergne valleys to the Mediterranean.

Afternoon

You enjoy superb weather over ¾ of the country with barely veiled sunshine. We find more clouds north of a La Rochelle / Paris / Lille line. In the regions neighboring the Channel, it continues to rain. Be careful due to expected significant amounts of rain (up to 20 to 70 mm of water in 24 hours). Finally, near the Mediterranean, the stratus clouds brought by the sea wind tend to cloud the sky.

The mildness prevails everywhere, particularly from the center to the south of the country with temperatures worthy of mid-May.

Soirée

While the weather is becoming dry again in Brittany, the situation remains very agitated between Normandy and Hauts-de-France with continued heavy rains. The weather is deteriorating between the Pays de la Loire and the Ardennes passing through Paris with showers which take on a stormy character in the capital. Everywhere else you benefit from calm and mild weather. The Autan wind remains active in the Garonne valley and blows at 60 km/h.

Things to remember over the next few days

Tuesday, the disturbance arriving via the Channel on Monday will quickly cross France with very cloudy skies and a few showers from the Pyrenees to the eastern borders. A nice improvement will take place in the afternoon from the west thanks to the return of the Azores anticyclone. Wednesday will be the most beautiful day of the week despite gray mornings and a still very cloudy sky near the Channel. From Thursday and especially Friday, the disturbed ocean current could resume its service with a further significant deterioration to monitor in the south-east.
