In recent days, the thermometer has fallen, particularly during the night from Thursday 14 to Friday 15 November 2024. Should we expect a strong cold snap in France next week?
While the sun has been among us these last few days, the usual end-of-year cold seems to be showing the tip of its nose. Although minor frosts were present in the south-west of the country in Auvergne and Aveyron with 6.2°C in Cornus, the severe cold does not really seem to be setting in.
According to The Weather Channelif the conditions are not met for a cold snap, next week will still be marked by the arrival of an air mass from the far north, via Iceland.
u203cufe0f Let’s get excited…No, no cold snap next week. For this it would be necessary:
– T° lower by at least 5°C than average. monthly
– Thermal indicator below -2°C for at least 1 day
– 3 consecutive days with a national average T° below… pic.twitter.com/6xZWe3mcOb— La Chaîne Météo (@lachainemeteo) November 14, 2024
“Polar air stall”
The Weather Channel talks more about “polar air stall”. According to the weather channel this drop will be “brutal and particularly marked with an anomaly of 10°C below average at altitude”. A context that has largely cooled on a national scale where “Temperatures will be on average 3°C lower than seasonal averages”.
“This air will also be very unstable, loaded with humidity after its passage over the sea. This will cause rain, showers of snow and sleet, and heavy snowfall in the mountains. But this maritime origin will somewhat soften this air mass in the plain, where temperatures will be on average 3°C lower than seasonal norms. No cold snap therefore but temperatures lower than the seasonal averages.
Good weather despite everything this weekend
According to the forecasts of Weather Francethe sun should still be present in France. This Saturday, November 16, the weather will be rather cloudy towards the center and north of the country. This Sunday, November 17, 2024, the sun will only be present in the south, southeast and north of the country. In the north-west of France and on the German border the sky will be rainy with lots of gray.
