Weather havoc in Tizimín

TIZIMÍN.— With the recent rainfall in the area, the municipality woke up yesterday with flooded streets, suspended works and navigation in the ports of the coast closed until further notice.

Since Friday, around noon, constant downpours and rains began to fall throughout the city, which paralyzed some activities in Tizimín and the bad weather lasted for part of the night.

Yesterday it was cloudy throughout the day, in the port of El Cuyo the gales began to be felt around 12 noon, all the boats were insured in the dock since Friday.

In addition, due to the constant rainfall, several streets of Tizimín were flooded; some areas where the sidewalks were recently built were left with stagnant water and the lower areas of the city, which tend to accumulate water, continued this way yesterday since the first downpours on Friday.

Due to bad weather, it was necessary to suspend work in the Santa Rosa de Lima neighborhood, since the pipes in the drinking water network were being changed, so ditches were opened, which caused them to become mudflats.

The same happened in the Benito Juárez subdivision to the north of the city where several streets were flooded due to the fact that days ago the construction of sidewalls began, however, due to the fact that the sewers have not yet been installed, several arteries were flooded.

There was no lack of users who published their disagreement against the municipal authorities on Facebook, which led to the intervention of the interim mayor Reyes Aguiñaga Medina, who replied that sewers are contemplated in the works, but that they are in process.

The residents of that subdivision suggested that the winning party take into account that its streets are flooded every time and with the sidewalks worse, so they need deep wells or sewers.

On the other hand, due to the weather, there were sporting events that were suspended in the fields by the organizers until further notice, as it had been scheduled but due to the conditions of the fields it was not possible.

They even pointed out that those scheduled for Sunday will probably be suspended. WENDY UCÁN CHAN
