The people of the country have to prepare for showers and thunderstorms: The week starts on Monday cloudy and sometimes rainy, said the German Weather Service (DWD). In the east and in the Allgäu, showers like rain sometimes prevail. The maximum temperatures are between 16 and 23 degrees. On Tuesday local showers are accompanied by a low risk of thunderstorms.

After thunderstorms occurred mainly in the southern Black Forest and south of the Danube in Upper Swabia on Saturday, the north-east and east of the country are particularly affected by heavy rain with occasional lightning strikes, a DWD spokeswoman said. Rain continues to be expected from Stuttgart to Lake Constance. The west remains spared except for a few small showers, according to the meteorologist. The maximum temperatures are between 14 degrees on the Alb plateau and 23 degrees in the Upper Rhine Graben. In the vicinity of thunderstorms, there are also occasional, stormy gusts. Mostly, however, it is a moderate west wind, it said.

So far, there have been no major damage or accidents due to the storm: “We did not have a single weather-related mission,” said a police spokesman from Freiburg on Sunday morning. Only in the Markgräflerland heavy rain flooded a few cellars that the fire department pumped out, the spokesman said. The police headquarters in Reutlingen also had no action due to the storm. “The thunderstorms passed us without a trace,” said a police spokesman from Pforzheim.
